Background
The Fan Testing Solution was initially a spin-
Design Philosophy
The system was designed, primarily, as an upgrade to an existing fan testing installation
which would consist of one or more test columns, pressure-
On the other end of the spectrum, full automation was considered. The notable higher cost and complexity would, however, not yield any "better" test nor result to justify this.
The happy medium resulted in dynamic variables (those that change notably during a test) to be read by the data acquisition system, while static variables are captured manually before the test. The static variables are psychrometric readings, barometric pressure and power factor. The extra benefit is that of calibration. The data acquisition linked transducers do not have to be removed or sent away for calibration, as opposed to some of the static variable sources. (more information below diagram)
Another advantage is that it has simplified testing, and also increased productivity where many fans have to be tested daily.
Below is a diagram of the layout and a sample Performance Test Report.
